Alworths opens first Scottish stores
Variety retailer, Alworths, will open its first Scottish stores in Cupar, Fife and Forfar, Angus in June, with plans to open a further eight stores in the country.
The new stores are between 5-6,000 sq ft and are situated in busy market towns.
“We strongly believe that there is still a desire for traditional high street shopping,” said Alworths boss, Andy Latham (right). “The stores will stock all of the categories featured in our English stores with some regional differences in confectionery and the phasing for some events, such as Back to School, to fit with the local market."
Both stores are ex-Woolworth outlets and many of the Alworths’ colleagues will be former Woolworths’ employees.
Alworths is a general retailer stocking a mix of branded toys, sweets, homeware, stationery, entertainment products, seasonal goods, party accessories and cards and wrap.
