Top Thorntons outlets honoured

Independent store, Just Cards in St Ives, Cambridgeshire has been named as Thorntons' Franchisee of the Year.

The award was presented at Thorntons' annual retailer conference held at the NEC.

For Just cards owners, Tom and Maureen O'Connell, the event was a double celebration as their store also took the Best Store Standards award.

"We've had Just Cards for over ten years now and installed Thorntons in January 2004," said Tom O'Connell. "It's gone really well for us and we've increased our Thorntons sales every year.

"It takes a bit of effort to make it work bu the Thorntons element is the icing on the cake for what is a very nice card shop in a very nice market town. Our seasonal sales are really good and in the summer we do really well with the ice cream offer."
