Ling Design snaps up Rainbow rights
Following the collapse of Rainbow Cards, Ling Design has emerged as the new owner of the brand name and intellectual property rights of the Wolverhampton-based publisher.
Rainbow was placed in voluntary liquidation when director, Harvey Morrison, called in insolvency practitioners, Butcher Woods. A letter has since been sent to creditors giving them notice of a meeting to be held on 6th September where a liquidator will be appointed.
According to John Owens of Butcher Woods, Rainbow’s stockholding had been sold prior to their appointment along with the brand name and IPR, which was “owned personally by the director”.
Now Ling Design has emerged as the new owners of the Rainbow name with Ling chairman, Julian Nash stating: “Rainbow Cards is one of the UK’s longest established and most respected publishers of humourous cards and we are very proud to add the Rainbow brand to the Ling family.
“For the immediate future we will concentrate on maintaining availability of the best-selling Rainbow Designs and bringing new products to the market as quickly as we can.”
According to Ling, retailers are able to order Rainbow product from its sales teams with immediate effect.
