GCA’s big birthday

Association kick off centenary celebrations by unveiling fresh branding

NEW look branding has been unveiled as the Greeting Card Association celebrate their 100th birthday, and kick off a programme of centenary celebrations and in initiatives.

Originally formed back in 1919, the GCA last rebranded 20 years when they dropped calendars from their remit, and the new branding revealed today, Tuesday, February 26, was chosen by council members from more than 30 submissions received.
Amanda Fergusson, who took over as GCA chief executive in December, said: “Greeting cards are all about celebrating and marking life’s events and moments, so it's wholly appropriate that we celebrate the GCA’s own significant 100-year milestone.
“The new updated logo is just the start, we’re working on a whole programme of initiatives and activities that we will be sharing in the coming weeks and months – and we'll be encouraging publishers, retailers and suppliers to embrace the opportunity to get involved in celebrating our wonderful industry’s ongoing evolution.
“Being a pre-eminent creative industry, the council felt it was important that we update our 20-year-old branding, while retaining the heritage and having some continuity with our existing logo.”
A branding toolkit is being developed for GCA members to use with the new logo to be available for download from the association website and, from 2020, there will be a version without the centenary branding.
